look up, not down

i’ve been having fun sharing my halloween pictures with you, but how about we wrap up with a quick video? you may recognize the soundtrack as a song the cramps covered. it was the only halloween-type song that i knew all the words to so i could sing as i walked along the mighty san lorenzo towards downtown when i photographed these pictures.

how was your practise today friends? one of my favorite teachers was leading the 8 and another favorite was leading the 4, so what did i do? i took the noon! what a class. the woman next to me kept muttering under her breath “what’s wrong with me?” oh, i felt sorry for her.

it was a challenging class if you weren’t prepared for it or if you were new. i think i was the only one in my row doing a few of the poses during the standing series. i think duffy wrote about a class like that and having to put more into the practise to try and create some energy in the room. that’s the way i felt today. the woman in front of me looked so defeated after every pose. it was a bummer looking in the mirror and seeing her sunken-in shoulders and the exasperation on her face. heartbreakers, never let the class defeat you. your body follows your eyes—when you look down, that’s where your practise is gonna be. look up, project your chest upward & outwards and your practise will follow. see you tomorrow ~m

Just out of curiosity, was that to the left or right of you?? Thinking it could go either way, but my guess is to the right. Also, I beg to differ about your entire row!! Maybe your row on the not “cool” side… Didn’t even so much as say hi today, did we? Talk to you soon!

even though the one on the right was out before garurasana (maybe?), it was actually the one on my left ~ she was about to hyperventilate, poor dear.

oh, you’re right! it was on my side of the room. i can’t see past the podium without looking away from myself, so i forget about the cool side of the room!
