turn it around!
scene from pacific avenue, 11:30 am, rain on the horizon.
the yoga studio is on the other side of the del mar, but in the back. i was surprised to see class being led by a teacher that was new to me. she’s been a teacher longer than i’ve been practising, but i’ve never had a class with her. it was nice to hear her dialogue for a change. she had good stuff to say about some of the poses. right before second set of poorna-salabhasana, she said at our highest point, exhale and try coming up more. it makes sense when you think about it, to get that little extra stretch. that’s the kind of knowledge that comes with experience. it was a really good class, the wind and rain kept the room tolerable, but i gotta say, you people complain about how long p holds the poses, i think i could have gone out for a shower during our dandayamana-dhanurasana! i really believe the poses are as long as the teacher says they are, but, wow, i was challenged today. i kept telling myself, “the poses aren’t longer, you’re just tired.” how’s that for turning it around?
after class, i stood under the del mar marquee. it was raining but i was anxious for a photo safari. as i pondered possible subject matter, a girl asked if she could take my picture. i was surprised, but i think i surprised her even more when i said “yes, but only if i can take a picture of you.” how’s that for turning it around? after she got her picture, my camera came out of the bag and i started on a new adventure. click on the picture to enjoy the larger version and see the raindrops against the car in the background. see you tomorrow ~m
