so sore

this is a cool little beach in the middle of the cliffs that has become kind of a dog beach. it’s really hard to grasp how big this peace sign is, but there’s a dog & owner nearby, so that gives you some kind of scale. this isn’t the first time this sign has been carved here, i got a similar shot last year!

sunday morning. my plan was take the 8 and watch football. when i woke up, it was raining and i was sore. i did not feel like getting up. reset my alarm since the packers aren’t playing, i don’t need to see a game that bad. woke up in time for the 10 and thought about going to the 4. heartbreakers, i seriously thought about taking a day off today. my body was so sore, i wasn’t looking forward to my bike ride, to bikram or braving the rain. i had the blankets over my head. it was cold and trixie was right next to me. my body really wasn’t feeling it and i thought about how sore i would be if i din’t get my bikram on.

yesterday’s extra 2 hours of yoga really wiped me out. oh my god, this must be what it feels like to be out of shape and take your first bikram class! when i took my first bikram class, i’d already had several months of working out 90 minutes a day, 6 days a week, so i din’t “die” like most. you know, i din’t even do the advanced series, only one half of it. and we were sitting and talking about the poses too, it wasn’t like we were doing the sequence straight through. dancingj said it well, it *was* humbling, but it also showed me how much more my body has to open. which is why i got out of bed, put my rain gear on and biked to bikram.

i’m not gonna lie and say i felt 100% after class, but my body din’t feel nearly as sore as when i started. people often mistake soreness for “i need to rest” when, in fact, you really need to keep working things out. see you tomorrow ~m
