keep it clean
hey, i like to get in the spirit of the holiday, i’m glad other people do too! another street portrait from pacific avenue, the mailman is always good for a shot.
wow, friends, i thought i had trouble getting my ass to bikram yesterday, today was a new low for me. i woke up to howling wind and rain this morning. i have never heard rain hitting these walls and windows so hard. instead of braving the rain, i huddled up with trixie and listened to it. she is the cutest kitty in the world, at one point the rain was coming down so hard i think she got scared and pressed herself against me even more±—it was so cute and i’m such a crazy old cat dude. there were three different times when i said to her, that is the loudest i have ever heard rain! since it was only getting worse, i thought i should have gone to the 10, but you wanna know what? it cleared up! i got dressed in my yellow rain gear, but it’s been dry ever since. now, class was a different story. as soon as class started, my energy dropped. whoa, i had to stay with my breath and go at a little slower pace than usual. remember, if you’re not breathing through your nose, you’re going a little bit farther than you should. while i’m on the subject of reminders, i think it’s time for another….
beginner’s advice to bikram yoga pt. 14
clean your gear. think of your yoga mat as a dinner plate that has the hottest dish in the world—you! you’d wash your plate after dinner, so why not wash your mat & towel? and seriously, that doesn’t mean, washing it in the shower, rolling it up and throwing it in the trunk of your car to sit and ferment, it needs to get dry. trust me, your fellow benders will thank you. see you tomorrow ~m

i know you’re anti-”stuff” for bikram, but i seriously think the breathe mats are rad! they’re one piece (mat + towel combo) and you wash them after every class so they are cleaner than my mat ever was! i’m lucky because my studio sells them pretty much at cost ($44) which is still spendy, but i think they are AWESOME!

anti-stuff? i just admitted i have 3 yogitoes! anyway, a, i think i sweat too much for the breathe mat/towel combo. my buddy got one for christmas ~ i think he used it once ~ i tried lifting it after class and it was way too heavy with sweat! splitting it up between towel and mat is better when you’re on a bike—weight distribution! but also, i wash my mat everyday, so i don’t feel like it’s gross, just old and flat. actually, i really want a lotus pad mat, so i’m holding out for one of those!!
