river watch

this is the mighty san lorenzo and, for once, “mighty” isn’t used ironically. the water is never this high, usually the san lorenzo looks like a gentle stream. a long time ago, people used the san lorenzo as a water way—riding boats into town—honestly heartbreakers, you could have done it today. i swear only last week, people were camping illegally in the trees to the left of the ducks. this is the bike path i ride everyday and in the background is my beloved san lorenzo park.

what’s it been like where you live, friends? i’ve been skipping all the 10 am classes this week to avoid the rain. so far, it’s worked out that the rain has either stopped or lightened up as i’ve ridden to bikram. i’m not gonna lie though, a car sounded nice as the rain was pounding down this morning. i din’t feel like braving the rain, so, like a true homebody, i got jambalaya started in my crock-pot instead.

procrastination sometimes does pay off and i was rewarded with a dry ride. joy. the noon was kinda crowded, i wonder if other people had been put off by the rain too? with all humidity in the air, i was surprised at how long it took to get me in a sweat—when we made it to the floor series, i only had two, small damp spots on my towel. class started mellow, but, holy cow, our teacher opened the door during the floor series to get some fresh air in and i din’t feel a thing. i was right by the door too, i thought i would feel something, but, no.

after feeling so weak the past few days, i was glad to have a challenging class that i actually felt ready for. i’ve been eating a lot to rebuild my energy and i felt it today in class. one of the best things you can do for your bikram practise is eat healthy—lots of fruits, vegetables, beans and whatever else your body is demanding. that’s what gives you the energy to stay focused and keep your breath steady. okay, that’s enough from me tonight, see you tomorrow ~m

don’t worry, bex, pizza is part of a healthy athlete’s diet. i think i read somewhere that michael phelps ate a pizza a day. while training for the olympics, not because of munchies, geesh! seriously though, i think i also read that some, either basketball or football, teams will have pizza during half-time. as far as i’m concerned, it’s got tomato, cheese, bread, you put fruit on yours, but i won’t hold it against you, ha ha

Hey! Sorry about all that rain! Here in Boston…Cold, snowy, dreary for the most part. But today? Today there is sunshine and 29 degrees. Yipee. Can’t wait for spring. Can’t wait. Classes here have been so PACKED with all the New Years Res. people. I sense it should be thinning out soon. Have a great practice today!

The rain is startling for us Socal people. Students are calling me going, “Is class cancelled??” My initial reaction is, “Hell nah, get your asses over here,” but no one is used to driving/dealing with rain, so maybe we should be careful…

I did, however, let the rain stop me from getting to class yesterday, and it’ll be really hard to get there today!

Be safe in the crazy weather, y’all!
