5 foods to eat daily

“Don’t bother wiping away the sweat, it’s just gonna come back.” if you want to thrive in the bikram yoga studio, you might as well say “i love sweat” and forget about it. what else can you do? lots of people drink coconut water or smart water or use supplements like emergen-c. to be honest with you, i think you can thrive in the room without any of those. when you sweat, your body loses sodium, chlorine or chloride, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. i’d rather get my nutrients from food instead of from a packet that says “alacer” on the back of it. if you include these 5 foods in your daily diet, you won’t need supplements because they provide the recommended daily value that you’ll need, no matter how much you sweat.

sweat’s 5 foods to eat daily.
sunflower seeds. this is prolly the best nut or seed you can eat. 1/4 cup gives you 30% dv of magnesium and phosphorous, as well as 90% of your vitamin e, 54% of b1 (thiamin) and 25% of b5.
almonds. not only do you get 25% dv of your magnesium and 20% of phosphorous, you also get healthy amounts of manganese, vitamin e, copper and b2.
spinach. the king of leafy greens—1 cup gives you so many nutrients, i’m only going to tell you about the ones we sweat out: 35% dv magnesium, 25% calcium *and* potassium plus 10% phosphorus.
chard. the queen of leafy greens! just like spinach, there are too many nutrients to tell you about. 1 cup of chard and you get 35% dv of magnesium, 30% potassium, 10% calcium and 5% phosphorous.
pinto beans. beans are a magical fruit indeed, in 1 cup you get 25% dv of phosphorus, magnesium and potassium.

if you’re concerned about chloride or chlorine, don’t be, just add a little sea salt to your meals and you’ll be fine.

heartbreakers, please keep in mind that i’m not a doctor or a nutritionist. my only qualifications are that i practise bikram yoga daily and eating well has worked for me. i’m basing my nutrient information on the work of the george mateljan foundation as well as the writing of bentley thompson and mary hartley, rd.

okay, that’s enough of that, let’s take a break for a little sweat humor. god bless gilda radner.
