As most of us know, ustrasana is one of the postures where one experiences total emotional abandon. You come out of it, weep, cry, sigh, and acknowledge whatever negative repressed energy / memory / bad juju you’ve kept hidden for so long. I’ll admit, I’ve cried a few times coming out of camel, once after locust and once during the standing series.

On that note, it WILL be interesting what sort of emotions / forcibly repressed memories will bubble out in week 1/2 – and whether I’ll start sobbing in class, post class or before class. Yes, I’ve got a tonne of [emotional] baggage that I’m carrying around which I hope to shed – ASAP!

Lately, I’ve been having [rather irrational, I know] thoughts such as, “Will I make friends at training?”, “Will people like me?”, “What if they don’t understand me [my accent / brand of humour]?”, “Can I get RICE from trader joe’s?” … to “Who’s gonna drive you home toniiiiight?”

But I suppose, a little bit of anxiety thrown in with some anticipation is a heady cocktail that goes straight to your brain. You may not even register it, but I suppose that your brain’s sending out super signals that go “ONLY 2 MORE SLEEPS TO VEGAS”.

    • I was gonna say “don’t be scared!!” but then I thought, “hey, might as well do it now and get it over with!” You’re on the roller coaster now, baby, just let go and enjoy the ride. Trader Joe’s sells all kinds of rice. Normal rice, microwave rice, frozen rice… good stuff. And there will be plenty of people who “get” you. Yoga people are the coolest!

    • No worries on meeting people and making some new long lasting friendships. I went to TT knowing one girl who was from my studio. We met others and now I’m in weekly contact with people all over the world. You are going to experience something unique and it will draw you very close to those around you who are also sharing that. I’m lucky, as you will be, and these bonds will last in one from or another well beyond the nine weeks.

Also they will break down the students into smaller groups for Dialog Clinic. The groups are also a chance to meet other people and since you will be spending many hours in Dialog Clinic you will have chances to find your peeps there also. Sitting in lecture hall will provide for another opportunity.

      Namaste Motherfucker : )
